To Wear His Sweater

That was the choice Caleb made at 4am as he dressed me for the emergency room. I’ve “tweaked” my left shoulder before, both times over holiday weekends and have gone to the chiropractor for a fix, but left last time and told them I wouldn’t return… and I meant it. I hurt my right shoulder this time and thought I was working through the pain, but after two pain relievers (enough to make me sleep through a broken toe) with no relief, Caleb decided we both needed sleep.

I thought it might be a knotted rhomboid, rear deltoid, or latissimus dorsi muscle and the doctor thought it might be my levator scapulae, so he did some superficial massage with no relief. I was released an hour later with some ibuprofen and a muscle relaxer after being given a shot of ketorolac tromethamine in my gluteal muscle. I took two flexeril and still woke up early, but not in as much pain.

I would get groggily through the next two days, not really coherent and trying to sleep away the pain. I need to follow-up with my doctor to find the exact location of the issue so I can work on rehabbing it or avoiding the cause (which might be lifting more than 10 pounds over my head). I’m feeling better today and was able to gym for twenty minutes, walk the dogs for half an hour, and get some grocery shopping done.

Now to catch up on my questions of the day…

16th: What was the last performance or concert you went to? A free concert at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park on January 14th with Caleb and his Uncle Ed.

17th: If you could change something about today, what would it be? To not be in pain that requires prescription meds that bring about temporary relief.

18th: What’s the most expensive thing you’re wearing now? my Samsung Gear S2, then my sweater and shoes, and then the rest of my outfit.
